César Pesquera performed in collaboration with D-Fuse and the London Symphony Orchestra for Steve Reich's 70th Birthday concert at the Barbican Hall featuring live video set to Reich's The Desert Music.
...subtly mutating abstract patterns were perfectly synchronised with Reich's own shifting harmonic shapes and morphing repetitions. In fact, the piece's impact arguably benefited from these visual additions. The Guardian
American composer Steve Reich is known as one of the godfathers of minimalism, but his shimmering orchestral scores are both spacious and generously expressive. The 50-minute cantata, The Desert Music, is his heartfelt response to the poetry of William Carlos Williams and the atomic era.
